Complementary Therapies work on both physical and emotional levels and promote relaxation and the feeling of wellbeing. They also encourage the body to heal itself and remove harmful toxins.

Many clients suffering from chronic conditions may need around 4 treatments before they see an improvement.  However, this varies from client to client, and you may find you benefit from less (or more). Once an improvement in the condition has been acheived and balance restored, many clients will benefit from a 'top-up' treatment every 4-6 weeks or so. This will help to maintain balance and stop symptoms from returning. You are under no obligation to embark on a course of treatment and will never be pressured to do so.

Inner Calm provides a range of Complementary Therapies, details of which are listed below. If you would like further information on any of the treatments, please feel free to contact Sue.

Aromatherapy Massage

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils in holistic treatments to improve physical and emotional well-being. Essential oils, extracted from plants, possess distinctive therapeutic properties, which can be utilised to improve health and prevent disease.

Aromatherapy is one of the most popular of all complementary therapies and is known to be especially effective for stress-related problems and a variety of chronic conditions. Regular use of aromatherapy treatments can help to strengthen the immune system, thereby establishing a preventative approach to overall health.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a complementary therapy widely accepted in the UK and recognised by the NHS, many GP’s and hospices. By applying pressure to the reflex points on the feet, the blood circulation is improved, the body relaxes and organs and glands become balanced. Doctors agree that over 75% of our health problems can be linked to nervous stress and tension. Reflexology is fantastic for relaxing and clearing these blockages.

Reflexology is not a beauty therapy or a foot massage, it is a clinical treatment with proven results. It is therefore totally safe for people of all ages, from babies to the elderly, for pregnant women and those undergoing chemotherapy.

Indian Head Massage

Indian head massage ‘malish’ is based on the ayurvedic system of healing which has been practiced in India for over a thousand years. It is a wonderful treatment which releases the stress that has accumulated in the tissues, muscles and joints of the head, face, neck and shoulders.

Indian head massage is especially good for relieving stress, tension, fatigue, insomnia, headaches, migraine and sinusitis. Following a treatment, clients report that the experience has left them deeply calm and relaxed, which leads to them feeling energised and revitalised and better able to concentrate.

Reiki

Reiki is a natural form of energy healing which originated in Japan. It was developed by a Japanese Buddhist, Dr Mikao Usui, in the early 1900’s. It benefits everyone at all levels (emotional, physical and spiritual).

During a Reiki treatment, energy is channeled by the practitioner and directed through their hands to wherever on the body it is needed. The channeled energy helps to clear the energy blockages and restore balance, thereby improving physical and emotional health.

Ear Candling

Ear Candling or Thermal Auricular Therapy is an ancient treatment. There is historical evidence that it was used by the North and South American Indians, Chinese, Egyptians and Greeks.

When lit, the ear candle generates a gentle heat which, when combined with the therapeutic oils, produces a light suction action. This is known as the chimney principle and works by drawing impurities gently to the surface where they can be removed. None of the candle residue actually goes into the ear. A small disc is used to prevent anything falling from the candle onto the client.
